In my experience, some distinction is made between the work of artists like DaVinci, Michelangelo and Rembrandt and, say, a watercolor or pen and ink illustration done for a magazine. In fact, Michelangelo's work for the Sistine Chapel was as much a commissioned work as that magazine illustration. |
